Together members call for ‘gold standard’ model of UNCRC incorporation

27 Aug 2019

“As an organisation that has children’s rights at the heart of the work we do every day with children, young people and families, Aberlour is committed to supporting, promoting and protecting children’s rights. We welcome the Scottish Government’s commitment to legislating to incorporate the UNCRC and believe the only way to do this, to ensure children’s rights in Scotland are universally realised, is by fully and directly incorporating the UNCRC into Scots law.” SallyAnn Kelly, Chief Executive of Aberlour.

Today (Tuesday 27th August) alongside our Together partner charities SallyAnn Kelly co-signed a letter to the Minister for Children and Young People, Maree Todd MSP, calling for the UNCRC to be fully incorporated into Scots Law.

“Why would you pick and choose rights? Children’s rights are connected, equally important and for everyone, so why wouldn’t you keep them all together?” Rebecca*, Aberlour Young Person.
