The Weir Family Foundation Ball

27 Jun 2019

Aberlour is thrilled to be chosen as the beneficiary of a black-tie charity ball that will take place in the autumn of this year. The ball is being organised by The Weir Family Foundation who are long-standing supporters of Aberlour.

Whether you are looking for an exclusive way to entertain clients or a special night out with friends, we’d love you to join us at this wonderful event. You’ll enjoy a Champagne reception, three-course meal with wine and fabulous auction, before dancing the night away! The evening will also feature an inspiring contribution from some of Aberlour’s young people.

The Ball is taking place on Saturday 5 October at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow. A table of 10 costs £850. To book, contact The Weir Family Foundation at 07720 416 661 or events@weirfamilyfoundation.com.

By supporting this event you’ll be helping young people like 23 year old Chelsea, whose life was beginning to spiral out of control.

Chelsea says:

“If you are looking to support a charity then definitely support Aberlour as it helps people like me, who need support to get them off the streets.”

Chelsea’s Story

Chelsea didn’t have the best upbringing. Her parents weren’t around so she lived with her Nana and Grandad. She was fighting and hitting teachers at school and then became involved in gang fighting on the streets of Glasgow. That’s where she met Johnny, a youth worker from Aberlour.

Chelsea admits she’d probably be in jail if it wasn’t for Johnny taking her off the streets. She finds it hard to describe how much Johnny has changed her life, but it’s definitely a change for the better. Johnny has been there throughout Chelsea’s life, from helping her secure her first job to supporting her as she became a Mum to her two children.

She says:

“I believe if it wasn’t for Johnny I would have gone the wrong way. It is hard to describe how much he has changed my life, but he has changed it for the better. There are a lot of people Johnny, and Aberlour, have worked with to turn their life around. But there are more young people who need help.”
