The TEFL Org raises over £8,000 for Aberlour Children’s Charity

29 May 2023

The TEFL Org first selected Aberlour Children’s Charity as their organisation’s Charity of the Year for 2021.  They extended their support of Aberlour through 2022 due to the continued pressure on services and charities coming out of the pandemic.

The TEFL Org, is an internationally recognised and award-winning teacher training company who teaches English to people who do not speak English as their first language. The company chose Aberlour as its Charity of the Year as the ethos and values of both organisations are closely aligned.

Andy Healy, Managing Director of The TEFL Org said: “Aberlour Children’s Charity was the perfect charity partner for The TEFL Org. It’s aligned with our own ethos and values, helps children develop important life skills and has a strong focus on education. In supporting Aberlour, The TEFL Org aimed to help families feed, clothe and keep their children warm, which will enable them to focus on their education and reach their potential.”

SallyAnn Kelly, Aberlour Chief Executive said: “Thank you to everyone at The TEFL Org for supporting Aberlour. 1 in 4 children in Scotland are living in poverty and things are really difficult for children and families. The cost-of-living crisis has been catastrophic and the need for support never greater. Every penny raised by the team at The TEFL Org has helped to keep children clothed, put food on the table and to keep them warm. On behalf of the children and families you have supported through your fundraising, thank you.”

Aberlour works across Scotland providing a range of services including family support and youth work. Aberlour’s Urgent Assistance Fund has been a lifeline for thousands of desperate families during the pandemic, giving emergency cash grants to pay for food, utilities, clothing, nappies and other basics. The charity also supports unaccompanied young refugees, who may have arrived in Scotland with nothing, through its Scottish Guardianship Service.

The TEFL Org team completed a number of fundraising initiatives throughout the year such as taking part in the Kiltwalk. They also offered students the opportunity to donate £1, £2 or £5 to Aberlour during enrolment, which The TEFL Org matched every donation pound for pound.

If you would like to find out more about selecting Aberlour as your organisation’s charity of the year, our team would love to hear from you!
