Statement regarding £500m family wellbeing fund

Sally Ann Kelly, Chief Executive, made the following statement regarding today’s announcement about the Scottish Government’s commitment towards a Family Wellbeing Fund.

‘ Aberlour is delighted that today the Scottish Government has committed £500million towards a Family Wellbeing Fund. The publication of the Care Review and The Promise were emotional days for me – they spoke of a future that many of our families could only dream of.  In all honesty I was anxious that those families who bravely shared their stories might have done so with little change. I publicly warned against making promises to our children that would not be kept. Since then we have worked hard alongside our children and families and The Promise to make sure their stories are not just heard but listened to and that they can share their hopes and dreams for themselves and their children.  Our belief in, and support to, those families has never wavered. Today’s announcement gives hope to families of a better future for them – a future where dreams can at last be honoured.  If we keep our children and families at the centre of all that we do and we remain humble enough to be led by them, we can collectively achieve something great for Scotland’s children.’
