Statement: Aberlour response to inquiry into institutional child abuse

21 Dec 2018

On the 17 December 2014, then Cabinet Secretary for Education, Angela Constance, announced that the Scottish Government intended to hold a public inquiry into historical institutional child abuse.

Aberlour’s Chief Executive SallyAnn Kelly said:

“To those who suffered abuse while under the care of Aberlour, we reiterate our unreserved apology. The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry has our full cooperation and we hope it will bring some degree of closure to victims who have never been afforded the opportunity to tell their story. It will then be up to everyone involved in the care of Scotland’s children to work together to ensure that they are kept safe and protected from such abuse in future.”
