South Ayrshire Parents Cook Up A Storm To Celebrate The National Lottery’s 25th Birthday
South Ayrshire parents have celebrated the National Lottery’s 25th birthday by learning to bake scrumptious cheesecakes.
The local parents are supported by Aberlour Child Care Trust’s Family Service in South Ayrshire. This ground-breaking service has been funded by the National Lottery Community Fund for the past four years, and helps mums and dads with learning disabilities to build their skills and become confident in caring for their children.
Alyssa Farrell, one of the parents supported by Aberlour Family Service – South Ayrshire, said: “Without this service I really do believe my child would have been taken into care. By working with Aberlour I have grown in confidence and learned the skills I need to be a good parent.”
Lucy Gash, Service Manager said: ‘The National Lottery Community Fund has enabled us to help families stay together and create happy homes. One of the ways we do this is by holding a regular cooking group which helps parents learn about cooking, nutrition, shopping and meal planning. There was only one way for us to celebrate such an important birthday – we headed straight to the kitchen!’
