Charity offers free places to Dundee Kiltwalkers

18 Jul 2019

With just over a month to go until Dundee’s Kiltwalk, Scotland’s largest children’s charity is offering free entry to the event for those pledging to walk for them.

Aberlour Child Care Trust, a charity working in Dundee and across Scotland, provides lifeline care for vulnerable children, young people and their families. Walkers who sign up for the Kiltwalk in aid of Aberlour and who pledge to raise at least £150 in sponsor money will benefit from free entry.

Tracey Dammer, who manages two Aberlour services in Dundee: Options Dundee, which provides specialised at home care for children, young people and their families, and Outreach Dundee, which helps parents and children who are struggling to cope as a result of drug and alcohol use in the family, is taking part in the The Wee Wander with her seven-year-old son Daniel, her cousin Nikki and her 10-year-old daughter Charlie on behalf of Aberlour.

Tracey commented: “We’ve all been training hard for the The Wee Wander and are really looking forward to the big day. Having worked with Aberlour for two years now, I have seen first-hand just how difficult it is to keep funds coming in to keep our services running and continue to support all the children and young people the charity works with across Scotland. I also want my son to understand the importance of supporting local charities and I hope this is the start of his own fundraising journey.”

The Kiltwalk has become one of Scotland’s most popular mass-participation events with over 20,000 walkers taking part in 2018. After kicking off in Glasgow and Aberdeen earlier in the year, the Dundee event is taking place on Sunday 18th August followed by the final walk in Edinburgh in September.

Walkers can choose from a range of routes of between six and twenty-six miles in length. And with organisers promising incredible scenery, complimentary snacks and drinks along the way plus entertainment and family activities to enjoy at the finish, it’s a great way to have fun, complete a challenge and raise money that will make a big difference for vulnerable children.

To claim your free entry to this year’s Kiltwalk events call Aberlour on freephone 0800 085 6150 or email fundraising@aberlour.org.uk.
